Landgut Classic double rooms are located in the newer, carefully architecturally coordinated Haus Windmühle, where brightness and spaciousness prevail. More space for well-being, both in the room and in the bathroom, flooded with light, equipped with modern light furniture made of solid wood - this is how Landgut rooms are presented. Althof Retz is located in a former city castle and combines more than 800 years of history with modern luxury. The property, with 65 rooms and suites, offers accommodation in various styles – from classic castle rooms to modern wine rooms. The hotel is situated directly above the historical wine cellar of the city of Retz, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the wine culture of Lower Austria.
Wellness: VinoSPA spans six floors and offers unique relaxation. Guests have access to a Finnish barn sauna, a bio herbal sauna, a steam bath, an infrared cabin, and relaxation areas with waterbeds. Special grape and wine-based treatments are available. Opened in early 2016: the most spectacular hotel pool in Eastern Austria is located on the roof of the new spa building, where you can experience the vineyards up close while enjoying breathtaking views of both of Retz’s landmarks.
Pool: The central attraction is the heated outdoor infinity pool on the hotel roof. It offers a panoramic view of the town tower, the windmill, and the surrounding vineyards, creating an incomparable atmosphere of relaxation above the rooftops of the medieval city.
Gastronomy: The restaurant is bright and airy from all sides due to the extensive use of glass. In three parlors, you can enjoy à la carte dishes or regional simplicity with a touch of Mediterranean lifestyle through our "Weinbeißer" half-board. The menu is constantly updated with seasonal specialties. Additionally, an evening "Weinbeißer" menu is offered every night – a daily changing, enjoyable 5-course menu, which can also be ordered individually for smaller appetites. Of course, you can also order a wine pairing – 4 wines carefully selected by the sommelier from over 250 wines in the hotel's own cellar!
Sports and Activities: Retz is a hub for cycle tourism. The hotel offers secure bike storage and information on numerous themed trails among the vineyards. Guests can take guided tours of the largest wine cellar in Austria or hike in the nearby Thayatal National Park.
